16 steps · Tricky · about 12 min

Draw a kraken attacking ship in 16 steps, about 12 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: kraken's head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Kraken's head

Right of the middle draw a tall soft cone. Start low on the left, round the top, stop low right.

  2. Step 2: 2 fins

Near the top of the head draw a fin sticking out on each side, like a rounded triangle.

  3. Step 3: Big round eyes

Below the middle of the head draw 2 big round eyes. Add a black dot in each, with a tiny white shine.

  4. Step 4: Happy grin

Under the eyes draw a wide curved grin, from one side to the other. Add a small oval cheek at each end.

  5. Step 5: The sea

Draw a wavy sea line right across the paper, through the 2 bottom ends of the head.

  6. Step 6: Little boat

On the left, start on the sea. Draw a small hull with a pointy front. Stop on the sea. Add a rim line.

  7. Step 7: Mast and sails

Draw a mast and a ball. For each sail start high on the mast and stop at the boat's end.

Tip Join each sail's bottom corner back to the mast with a straight line.

  8. Step 8: Flag and portholes

Under the ball draw a little pointy flag streaming left. Draw 3 round portholes in a row on the hull.

  9. Step 9: First tentacle

Left of the boat, start on the sea. Draw a fat tentacle up to a curled tip. Stop on the sea.

Tip Wide at the sea, thinner and thinner to a small curled tip.

  10. Step 10: Second tentacle

Between boat and head, start on the sea. Draw a taller tentacle curling towards the boat. Stop on the sea.

  11. Step 11: Third tentacle

On the right, start on the sea. Draw the tallest tentacle up to a tip curling right. Stop on the sea.

  12. Step 12: Suckers

Draw 2 little round suckers up each tentacle, 6 in all.

  13. Step 13: Pink suckers

Colour the 6 suckers and the 2 cheeks pink.

  14. Step 14: Blue sea

Colour the sea under the wavy line blue, right to the edges and the bottom of the paper.

  15. Step 15: Purple kraken

Colour the head, fins and 3 tentacles purple, around the pink suckers. Leave the eyes white.

  16. Step 16: Red boat, brown mast

Colour the hull and flag red and the mast and ball brown. Leave the sails and portholes white.
