How to Draw a Food Chain

13 steps · Tricky · about 10 min

Draw a food chain in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the sun.

Print

  1. Step 1: The sun

In the top-left corner draw a round sun. Inside it draw 2 round eyes close together, a dot in each.

Tip The sun feeds the grass, the grass feeds the rabbit, the rabbit the fox.

  2. Step 2: Sunny smile and rays

Under the sun's eyes draw a small U smile. Draw short rays all the way round the sun.

  3. Step 3: The grass

Low under the sun, draw a tuft of 5 soft pointy grass blades. Close it with a flat bottom.

  4. Step 4: Rabbit head and ears

In the middle draw a round head with 2 tall oval ears. Draw a thinner oval inside each ear.

  5. Step 5: Rabbit face

On the head draw 2 round eyes close together, a tiny oval nose and a small U smile.

  6. Step 6: Rabbit body and tail

Under the head draw a round body on the ground, 2 small paws at the front, and a fluffy tail.

  7. Step 7: Fox head and ears

On the right draw a round head and 2 pointy ears. Add a small muzzle, the nose at its top.

  8. Step 8: Fox face

On the head draw 2 round eyes close together, and a small U smile under the nose.

  9. Step 9: Fox body and tail

Under the head draw a pear body, 2 short legs with paws, and a bushy tail with a tip line.

  10. Step 10: Arrows and ground

Draw a ground line across the bottom. Draw 3 arrows: sun to grass, grass to rabbit, rabbit to fox.

Tip The arrows point from the food to the one who eats it.

  11. Step 11: Yellow sun, orange fox

Colour the sun yellow and the fox orange. Leave their eyes, the muzzle and the tail tip white.

  12. Step 12: Green grass, pink ears

Colour the grass green and the insides of the rabbit's ears pink.

  13. Step 13: Grey rabbit

Colour the rabbit grey around the pink, leaving the eyes white. Go over your lines and you're done!
