How to Draw Knitting
Draw knitting in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: ball of yarn.
Step 1: Ball of yarn
On the lower left draw a big circle, as big as your fist, for the ball of yarn.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
On the ball draw 2 big egg eyes, half an eye apart. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 4: Knitting and floor
Right of the ball draw a tall box, the knitting. Add a floor line under both, almost edge to edge.
Step 5: First needle
Draw a long fat needle lying flat along the top of the knitting, with a knob on its right end.
Tip It pokes out past the box on both sides, more on the right.
Step 6: Second needle
Start at a knob above the box's right corner. Slant a second needle down, crossing the first near its knob.
Step 7: Stitches
Along the top of the knitting draw 5 little loops hanging on the first needle, evenly spaced.
Step 8: Knit rows
Across the knitting draw 5 wavy lines, one under the other, from the left edge across to the right edge.
Step 9: Wrap lines
Draw 2 curved wrap lines over the top of the ball, 1 under the smile, and 1 down each side.
Tip Keep them clear of the eyes and cheeks.
Step 10: Yarn strand
Draw a curvy strand from the top of the knitting to the ball. Add a loose tail down to the floor.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, red yarn
Colour the cheeks pink, then the ball, loops and knitting red around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Wood needles
Colour both needles and their knobs wood brown. Go over your lines. Your knitting is coming along nicely!
