How to Draw a Knit Hat

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a knit hat in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the crown.

Print

  1. Step 1: The crown

Start low on the left and draw a big dome over to the right. Join the ends with a curve.

  2. Step 2: 2 big eyes

On the crown draw 2 big egg eyes side by side, almost touching. Colour a big black dot in each.

  3. Step 3: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye. Add an oval cheek below and outside each eye.

  4. Step 4: The folded cuff

Across the bottom of the hat draw a wide band with a flat bottom, a little wider than the hat.

  5. Step 5: The pompom

On top of the hat draw a fluffy pompom with soft bumps all round. Rub out the line inside.

  6. Step 6: Ribs on the cuff

On the cuff draw a row of short straight lines from the top edge to the bottom edge, evenly spaced.

  7. Step 7: Sparkles and a table

Draw a sparkle star off each side of the hat. Draw a table line under the cuff, left to right.

  8. Step 8: Yellow sparkles

    Colour both sparkles yellow.

  9. Step 9: Cream cuff and pompom

Colour the cuff and the pompom cream, and the cheeks pink.

  10. Step 10: Red hat

Go over your lines, then colour the crown red, going around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
