How to Draw a Kite
Draw a kite in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the diamond.
Step 1: The diamond
Near the top of your paper draw a tall diamond, with the side corners a third of the way down.
Tip Taller than it is wide: the bottom half is longer.
Step 2: A happy face
Under the side corners draw 2 big eyes with black dots, a U smile and 2 cheeks inside the kite.
Step 3: The cross sticks
Draw a line across from corner to corner, and a stick down the middle, top to bottom, skipping the face.
Step 4: The tail
From the bottom point draw a long wavy tail swooping down left and across, stopping near the left edge.
Step 5: Three bows
Spaced along the tail draw 3 bows, each 2 little triangles meeting on the tail.
Step 6: The string
From the bottom point draw the string curving down to the right, stopping at a round spool near the bottom.
Step 7: Clouds
Draw a big cloud top right and a small one left, each with 3 round puffs on a flat bottom.
Step 8: Yellow and peach
Colour the cheeks peach and the 2 bottom panels yellow, around the face. Leave the eyes white.
Step 9: Sky clouds, red top
Colour the clouds sky blue and the 2 top panels red.
Step 10: Blue bows and spool
Colour the 3 bows and the spool blue. Go over all your lines and your kite is done!
