How to Draw a Killer Whale
Draw a killer whale in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Draw a big round C for the head. Start at the top, curve round the blunt nose and stop underneath.
Tip A killer whale has a round blunt head, not a pointy nose.
Step 2: One big eye
In the middle of the head draw 1 big round eye. Fill it mostly black and leave a white shine.
Step 3: Back and tall fin
From the top of the head draw the back, up into a tall pointed fin, then down towards the tail.
Tip The fin stands almost straight up, nearly to the top of the paper.
Step 4: Tail fins
From the end of the back draw 2 matching round tail fins with a notch between. Stop just below.
Tip The 2 fins are the same size, like a bow tie on its side.
Step 5: Round tummy
Start under the head. Draw 1 big round tummy, curving up to meet the tail.
Tip One smooth curve, no bumps.
Step 6: Long smile
Start on the front of the head. Draw a long smile under the eye, curling up at the end.
Step 7: Eye patch
Behind the eye, a little higher, draw a tilted oval patch.
Tip Leave a gap between the eye and the patch.
Step 8: Tummy stripe
Start on the smile. Draw a long line along the body. Stop on the tummy near the tail.
Tip Everything under this line stays white.
Step 9: Flipper
Start on the stripe below the patch. Draw a round paddle down and back, then up to the stripe.
Tip Rub out the lines inside the flipper.
Step 10: Waves
Under the whale draw a row of wave bumps right across the paper.
Tip Keep the waves below the flipper so the whole whale is in the air.
Step 11: Blue sea
Colour the waves and all the water below them blue.
Step 12: Colour it black
Colour the top, fin, tail and flipper black, around the eye and patch. Leave the eye white.
