How to Draw a Hamster
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: bun head.
Step 1: Bun head
Near the top, draw a big soft bun head: narrow on top, swelling into 2 fat cheek pouches below.
Tip 2 round lobes with a tiny dip between, like an upside-down heart.
Step 2: Tiny round ears
On top of the head, draw a tiny round ear each side, poking up above the head line.
Tip Add a smaller oval inside each ear. Rub out the ear lines inside the head.
Step 3: Shiny eyes
Halfway down the head, above the pouches, draw 2 big round eyes, 1 eye apart, with fat black dots.
Tip Leave a little white shine in each dot.
Step 4: Snout and nose
Draw a heart snout, a triangle nose in its dip, then a line from the nose, stopping halfway down.
Tip A fat heart under the eyes, between the pouches. The nose is as wide as an eye.
Step 5: Smile and buck teeth
From the bottom of the line, draw a smile up each way. Hang 2 big buck teeth from the middle.
Tip The teeth are 2 tall blocks with rounded bottoms, stopping inside the snout.
Step 6: Small round body
Start under the left cheek pouch. Draw a round cushion body down and round, back up under the right pouch.
Tip No neck. Keep the body narrower than the cheeks, sitting on the ground.
Step 7: Arms and fists
Start under each pouch. Draw a fat sausage arm down and in. Add a round fist on its end.
Tip The fist hides the end of the arm. Add 3 knuckle bumps on top.
Step 8: Sunflower seed
Between the fists, draw a seed with its point up and its round bottom below the fists.
Tip Keep the point below the chin. Draw 1 stripe down the middle.
Step 9: Cream tummy
Under the fists, draw a big wide oval tummy patch, stopping just above the bottom of the body.
Tip Make it wide: it fills most of the body below the fists.
Step 10: Feet on the ground
Rule the ground under the body. At each corner, draw a bun foot from the ground, back down to it.
Tip Rub out the body line inside each foot. Add 2 short toe lines.
Step 11: Whiskers
From each side of the snout, draw 3 thin whiskers across the cheek, stopping before the edge of the head.
Tip One tilts up, one goes straight, one droops down.
Step 12: Cream and pink
Colour the snout and tummy cream, around the nose and seed. Colour the inner ears, nose, fists and feet pink.
Step 13: Ginger fur, grey seed
Colour the head, ears, body and arms ginger, around the cream and pink parts. Colour the seed grey.
Tip Leave the eyes white. Go over your lines.
