How to Draw a Keytar

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a keytar in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.

Print

  1. Step 1: The body

Draw a big box lying down with soft corners. Slope its top up to the right.

Tip The right side is taller than the left side, and the left side leans.

  2. Step 2: The neck

Start high on the left side of the body. Draw a long thin box out to the left.

  3. Step 3: The head

On the end of the neck draw a rounded paddle, a little fatter than the neck.

  4. Step 4: The keyboard

Inside the body, along the bottom, draw a long flat box for the keys.

  5. Step 5: Black keys

Hanging from the top of the key box draw 5 small boxes: 2, a gap, then 3.

  6. Step 6: White keys

Draw 7 lines down to the bottom of the key box, one under each small box and in each gap.

  7. Step 7: Three knobs

Above the keys, on the right, draw 3 small round knobs in a row.

  8. Step 8: Neck buttons

On the neck draw 3 small round buttons in a row.

  9. Step 9: Music notes

Above the keytar draw 2 music notes: a pair joined by a bar, and a single one with a flag.

  10. Step 10: Yellow knobs

Go over your lines, then colour the 3 knobs and the 3 buttons yellow.

  11. Step 11: Purple body

Colour the body, neck and head purple, around the knobs and buttons. Leave all the keys white.

  12. Step 12: Black to finish

Colour the 5 small keys and the note dots black. Your keytar is ready to rock!
