How to Draw a Kendama
Draw a kendama in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the ball.
Step 1: The ball
Near the top middle, draw a big round ball, about as big as a plum.
Step 2: Two eyes
Just above the middle, draw 2 small oval eyes with a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a little U smile. Add a tiny oval on each side for rosy cheeks.
Step 4: Handle
Start under the ball. Draw 2 lines slanting out, then straight down. Stop near the ground.
Tip The ball is sitting on the spike!
Step 5: Crosspiece
A little below the ball, draw a flat bar across the handle, sticking out on each side like a T.
Step 6: Two cups
On each end of the bar, draw a sideways cup with a tall oval opening. Make the left cup bigger.
Tip Rub out the ends of the bar inside each cup.
Step 7: Base cup
Start at the bottom of the handle. Draw 2 lines flaring out like a skirt. Stop low on the page.
Step 8: Ground
Start below the left cup. Draw a long flat ground line under the base cup. Stop below the right cup.
Step 9: The string
Start on the right side of the ball. Draw a gently curving line down and stop at the handle.
Step 10: Pink and tan
Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks pink and the 2 cup openings tan. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Brown and red
Colour the handle, bar and cups brown, around the tan. Colour the ball red, around the eyes and cheeks.
