How to Draw a Cedar Tree
Draw a cedar tree in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the right side.
Step 1: The right side
Start at a point near the top. Draw soft bumps down the right side and stop near the bottom.
Tip It is like half of a tall teardrop, fattest near the bottom.
Step 2: The left side
Start at the point again. Draw bumps down the left side and across the bottom. Stop at the right side.
Step 3: The trunk
Start under the tree. Draw a stubby trunk, wider at the ground, then across and up to the tree.
Step 4: Branches on the left
Start in the middle of the tree. Draw 4 soft branches drooping down to the left, one under the other.
Step 5: Branches on the right
Start at the middle again. Draw 4 more droopy branches to the right to match.
Step 6: 2 cones
Draw 2 upright eggs for cones on 2 branch tips, one on the left and one lower on the right.
Step 7: Cone scales
Inside each cone draw 2 rows of soft little bumps for the scales.
Step 8: The ground
Draw a long ground line under the trunk. Start far left of the tree and stop far right.
Step 9: Grass
Start on the ground beside the trunk. Draw 2 short curved grass blades on each side, and one far right.
Step 10: Brown trunk, green tree
Go over your lines. Colour the trunk light brown, then the tree green, going round the cones.
Step 11: Brown cones
Colour the 2 cones dark brown, and your cedar is done!
