How to Draw a Jackal
Draw a jackal in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top left, draw a big round head a little wider than tall. Leave room for a snout.
Step 2: Pointed snout
Start high on the head's front. Draw a long pointy snout, ending low on the head. Add a black nose.
Tip A long pointy snout is what makes it a jackal and not a puppy.
Step 3: Tall ears
On top of the head, draw 2 tall pointed ears, one peeking behind the other. Add a triangle inside each.
Step 4: Eye and smile
Draw a big eye above the snout, with a dot and shine. Draw a smile from under the nose.
Step 5: Neck and body
From behind the head, draw the neck, long back, round bottom, tummy, and the chest up under the head.
Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder than the chest.
Step 6: Legs and ground
Draw the ground. From the chest, draw a leg to a round paw. Under the bottom, add a bent leg.
Step 7: Far legs
Draw a thin far leg peeking out behind each near leg, down to a paw on the ground.
Tip Only draw the parts you can see.
Step 8: Bushy tail
From the back end, draw a bushy tail down to a point. Add a curve across the tip.
Step 9: Dark saddle
Start on the neck. Draw a soft wavy line along the side, stopping on the back near the tail.
Tip Everything above the line is the dark saddle.
Step 10: Peach ear insides
Colour the inside of each ear peach. Leave the eye white.
Step 11: Tan jackal
Go over your lines. Colour the jackal tan, around the ear insides. Leave the saddle and tail tip for later.
Step 12: Slate saddle
Colour the saddle and the tail tip slate.
