How to Draw a Deer Silhouette
Draw a deer silhouette in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big moon.
Step 1: Big moon
Draw a huge circle for the moon, nearly as wide as your paper.
Tip Draw it lightly. The deer will stand inside it.
Step 2: Head and eye
Inside the moon, left of the middle, draw a head with a long nose pointing left. Add a tiny eye.
Step 3: Leaf ear
On the back of the head draw one ear shaped like a leaf, pointing back.
Step 4: Two antlers
On top of the head draw 2 tall thin antlers. They lean apart, then curve in at the tips.
Tip Draw each antler as 2 lines that meet at a point.
Step 5: Antler prongs
On the outer side of each antler draw 2 short prongs that point up.
Step 6: Neck and body
From the head draw a neck sloping down into a long body: flat back, round rump, deep chest.
Tip The chest hangs lower than the tummy near the back legs.
Step 7: The ground
Start on the left of the moon, low down. Draw an almost flat line across and stop on the right.
Step 8: Front legs
Under the chest draw 2 long thin legs down to the ground. End each one in a flat hoof.
Tip A small bump half way down is the knee.
Step 9: Back legs
Under the rump draw 2 back legs. Start wide, bend back at the heel, then come straight down.
Step 10: Short tail
On the rump draw a short pointed tail that flicks up.
Step 11: Pale yellow moon
Colour the moon above the ground pale yellow. Go carefully around the deer and between its legs.
Step 12: Black ground
Colour the ground under the deer black.
Step 13: Solid black deer
Colour the whole deer black, even the antlers, legs and tail. Leave the tiny eye white.
Tip A silhouette is a solid dark shape with no details inside.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a deer silhouette, drawn by you.
