How to Draw a Hammerhead Shark
Draw a hammerhead shark in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the hammer head.
Step 1: The hammer head
Start under the hammer, left of middle. Draw round the left end and the top. Stop at the right tip.
Tip Leave the bottom open on the right. The body grows out of the gap.
Step 2: Eyes at the ends
Near each end of the hammer, draw a round eye with a black dot and 2 white shines.
Tip Leave a gap all round each eye.
Step 3: Neck, back and fin
From the gap's left end, draw the throat to a chin. From its right end, draw the back and fin.
Tip The back rises into a sail fin, then dips to a thin tail neck.
Step 4: The tail
Start on the tail neck. Draw a long top fin and a short bottom fin, stopping under where you started.
Tip A shark tail is lopsided: the top half is long and swept back.
Step 5: Round tummy
Start at the chin. Draw one long smile for the tummy and stop on the bottom of the tail.
Tip One smooth curve, no bumps: the shark is a chunky teardrop.
Step 6: Big open mouth
Start on the throat. Draw a smile back to a mouth corner. Draw a deeper U under it.
Tip Both lines start and end at the same spots: a big open mouth.
Step 7: Pointy teeth
Start on the top lip near the front. Zigzag 4 pointy teeth along the lip and stop near the corner.
Step 8: Gills
Behind the hammer, draw 3 short curves side by side like ) ) ). The middle one is tallest.
Step 9: Tummy stripe
Start on the mouth corner. Draw one curve back along the body and stop on the tummy near the tail.
Tip This line is where the blue top meets the cream tummy.
Step 10: Side fin
Start under the stripe behind the gills. Draw a blade fin sweeping back and down past the tummy line.
Tip Wide at the stripe, narrow at the tip. Rub out the tummy line inside.
Step 11: Cream tummy, pink mouth
Colour the tummy and bottom jaw cream and the inside of the mouth pink. Leave the teeth white.
Step 12: Colour the top blue
Go over your lines. Colour everything above the stripe blue: hammer, back, fins and tail. Leave the eyes white.
