How to Draw a Purple Coneflower
Draw a purple coneflower in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the dome.
Step 1: The dome
Near the top draw a tall dome as big as a plum. Close the bottom with a gentle sag.
Tip The middle stands up like a spiky hedgehog.
Step 2: Spikes
Along the dome's top edge draw a row of little spiky points, from one side round to the other.
Step 3: Dots
Dot 8 small filled-in dots over the dome in 3 rows, like seeds.
Step 4: Drooping petals
From under the dome draw 4 long petals hanging down to soft points, 2 leaning left and 2 leaning right.
Step 5: More petals
Draw 4 more drooping petals in the gaps, and one sticking out sideways on each side.
Step 6: The stem
Start between the 2 middle petals. Draw 2 curved lines down to near the bottom, a little wider apart there.
Step 7: Two leaves
Below the flower draw a fat leaf from the stem out to a soft tip and back. Do both sides.
Step 8: Leaf veins
Start on the stem in each leaf. Draw one curved vein line out toward the tip, stopping just short.
Step 9: Ground and grass
From the left draw a ground line across to the right. Add 2 grass blades each side of the stem.
Step 10: Orange dome
Colour the dome and its spiky points orange, around the dots.
Step 11: Purple petals
Colour all the petals purple.
Step 12: Green stem
Colour the stem and leaves green, and your coneflower is done!
