How to Draw a Haystack
Draw a haystack in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big hay dome.
Step 1: Big hay dome
In the middle draw a big round dome with lots of small bumps. Join the ends with a flat bottom.
Tip Make it a bit wider than tall, as big as your hand.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
In the middle draw 2 big egg eyes, one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, eye to eye. Add a little sideways oval cheek under each eye.
Step 4: Left straw lines
Near the top left draw 3 curved straw lines, one below the other, each a bit further out.
Step 5: Right straw lines
On the right side draw 3 straw lines the same way, one below the other.
Step 6: Straw ends
Draw 3 little straw ends poking out down the left side and 1 low on the right.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a ground line from edge to edge under the stack. Add 2 loose straws on the left.
Step 8: Pitchfork handle
Start on the ground right of the stack. Draw a long thin handle leaning up against its side.
Step 9: Fork tines
Across the handle top draw a curved crossbar. From it draw 3 thin tines up, ending a finger above it.
Step 10: Sandy hay
Colour the whole stack sand yellow, around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Pink cheeks
Colour the 2 little cheeks pink.
Step 12: Brown handle
Colour the pitchfork handle wood brown. Go over your lines and your haystack is done!
