How to Draw a Yellow Jessamine
Draw a yellow jessamine in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the open flower.
Step 1: The open flower
Near the top of your paper draw a flower shape with 5 round petals, like a puffy star.
Tip Put one petal pointing straight up, then 2 on each side.
Step 2: The stem
Start under the flower. Draw a thin stem straight down and stop near the bottom of your paper.
Tip Leave room on both sides for the trumpets.
Step 3: Two trumpets
On each side of the stem draw a small cup, then a long trumpet leaning up and out from it.
Tip Keep each trumpet thin at the cup and wide at the end, like a real trumpet.
Step 4: Frilly rims
Round the wide end of each trumpet draw 3 round bumps, from the top edge to the bottom edge.
Tip One bump points up, one points forward and one points down.
Step 5: The throat
Draw a small circle in the open flower's middle. From each dip draw a short line in to it.
Step 6: Top leaves
Halfway down the stem draw 2 slim pointed leaves, one each side, pointing up and out.
Tip Jessamine leaves grow in pairs, one on each side of the stem.
Step 7: Bottom leaves
Lower down the stem draw 2 more pointed leaves, a little bigger and flatter.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge. Draw a ground line through the stem's foot, stopping near the right edge. Add grass.
Step 9: Yellow petals
Go over your lines. Colour the open flower, the 2 trumpets and their frilly rims yellow, around the throat.
Step 10: Orange throat
Colour the small circle in the middle of the open flower orange.
Step 11: Green stem and leaves
Colour the stem, the 2 cups and all 4 leaves green. Your yellow jessamine is done!
