How to Draw a Hemisphere
Draw a hemisphere in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big arch.
Step 1: The big arch
Start low on the left. Draw a big rainbow arch, like half a circle. Stop level on the right.
Tip A hemisphere is half a ball. Make the arch as tall as half its width.
Step 2: The round bottom
Start at the arch's left end. Draw a gentle smile curve under it. Stop at the right end.
Tip The curved bottom is the edge of the flat round base. It makes the shape look solid.
Step 3: 2 big eyes
In the middle draw 2 big eggy eyes, close together. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 4: Big smile
Leave a gap under the eyes, then draw a wide U smile from under one eye across to the other.
Step 5: Rosy cheeks
Under the outside of each eye, clear of the smile, draw a small sideways oval for a rosy cheek.
Step 6: A shine
High on the left of the hemisphere draw 1 short curved shine line, like light bouncing off a ball.
Step 7: Sparkles
Draw 2 sparkle stars on each side of the hemisphere, one high and one low.
Step 8: Shadow and floor
Draw a flat oval shadow round the hemisphere's bottom. Add a floor line out from each side of it.
Step 9: Yellow sparkles, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the 4 sparkles yellow and the 2 cheeks rosy pink.
Step 10: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow under the hemisphere grey.
Step 11: Teal hemisphere
Colour the whole hemisphere teal, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Your hemisphere is done!
