How to Draw an Impala

15 steps · Tricky · about 11 min

Draw an impala in 15 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top left of your paper draw a big round head, a little taller than wide.

Tip A big head is what makes it cute.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

Draw 2 big eyes across the middle of the head, each with a black dot and a white shine.

  3. Step 3: Nose and smile

Draw a small triangle nose below the eyes. From its tip draw a short line down to a w smile.

  4. Step 4: Two horns

From the top of the head draw 2 long horns that curve out, then in. Add 4 rings across each.

Tip Each ring goes from one side of the horn to the other.

  5. Step 5: Leaf ears

Draw a leaf ear out sideways from each top corner. Inside, draw a curve from the head to the tip.

Tip Keep the curve near the top edge, so the inside is wide.

  6. Step 6: The neck

Start behind the head. Draw the neck's back sloping down to the right. Draw its front from the chin down.

Tip The neck gets wider toward the body.

  7. Step 7: The body

Start at the neck. Draw a bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy up to the chest.

Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder and higher than the chest.

  8. Step 8: The ground

Draw a long flat ground line under the body, nearly from edge to edge.

  9. Step 9: Two near legs

From the chest draw a front leg with a knee down to a hoof. Add a bent back leg.

Tip A hoof is flat on the ground, with a short split up the middle.

  10. Step 10: The far legs

Draw a thin leg behind the front leg, from tummy down to hoof. Same in front of the back leg.

  11. Step 11: The tail

Start on the top corner of the bottom. Draw a short thin tail hanging down with a leaf tuft.

  12. Step 12: White tummy

Draw a low rainbow curve along the tummy, from the front legs to the back legs.

Tip The tummy stays white when you colour.

  13. Step 13: Peach ear insides

Go over your lines. Colour the ear insides peach.

  14. Step 14: Ginger coat

Colour the head, ears, neck, body, legs and tail ginger around the peach. Leave the tummy and eyes white.

  15. Step 15: Grey horns and hooves

Colour the horns, the hooves and the tail tuft dark grey.
