How to Draw an Iguanodon
Draw an iguanodon in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left, draw a long horse-like head. Start at the back, round the beak, stop under the jaw.
Step 2: Big eye
High near the back of the head, draw a big eye with a black dot and shine. Dot a nostril.
Step 3: Beak smile
Start at the tip of the beak. Draw a long smile along the jaw, curling up under the eye.
Step 4: Neck and back
Start at the back of the head. Draw the neck down and a long back. Stop at the rump.
Step 5: Long thick tail
Start where the back stopped. Draw a long thick tail out to a point, then back under the rump.
Tip Make the tail about as long as the body.
Step 6: Throat and tummy
Start under the jaw. Draw the chest down and round a big tummy. Stop where the tail line ends.
Step 7: Strong back leg
On the hip, draw a thick leg to a foot with 3 round toes. Rub out the tummy line inside.
Step 8: Far leg and ground
Start on the tummy behind the thigh. Draw a thinner leg to 3 toes, back up. Add the ground.
Step 9: Arm and hand
Start on the chest. Draw a thick arm to a hand with 3 round fingers. Stop lower on the chest.
Step 10: Thumb spike
On the front of the hand, draw a big pointy cone for the thumb spike, pointing up.
Tip The thumb spike is the iguanodon clue.
Step 11: Belly patch
Start under the jaw. Draw a long curve inside the chest, down to the thigh, for the belly patch.
Step 12: Sand belly
Colour the belly patch sand.
Step 13: Colour it green
Go over your lines. Colour the iguanodon leaf green, going around the sand belly. Leave the eye white.
