How to Draw a Hovercraft
Draw a hovercraft in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the skirt.
Step 1: The skirt
Below the middle, draw a long puffy cushion lying flat, like a fat pillow. Add a seam line along it.
Tip The hovercraft floats on this fat air-filled skirt, so make it puffy.
Step 2: The deck
On top of the skirt, draw a thin flat box from end to end, a little narrower than the skirt.
Step 3: The cabin
On the right half of the deck, draw a cabin: straight up, across, then slope down the front.
Step 4: Windows, door and light
In the cabin, draw a tall door, a square window, a slanted window and a small front light.
Step 5: The fan cage
On the left half of the deck, draw a big circle standing up, with a smaller circle inside it.
Step 6: Fan blades
Inside the cage, draw 3 fat leaf blades spreading out from the hub like a pinwheel.
Step 7: Strut and fins
Under the cage, draw a short block joining it to the deck. Draw a thin fin peeking out each side.
Tip Keep each fin thin, and lower than the top of the cage.
Step 8: The waves
Under the skirt, draw 2 rows of wave bumps right across the paper.
Step 9: Sun and cloud
Near the top left, draw a small sun with 8 short rays, and a puffy cloud near the top right.
Step 10: Sky windows, yellow sun
Colour the windows sky blue, and the sun and the front light yellow.
Step 11: Grey cage, blue sea
Colour the fan cage, blades, strut, fins and door grey. Colour the sea blue from the waves down.
Step 12: Red body, black skirt
Colour the cabin and deck red around the windows, door and light. Colour the skirt black.
Tip Your hovercraft is ready to whoosh over the water!
