How to Draw a Bus

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a bus in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: headlight eye and hood.

Print

  1. Step 1: Headlight eye and hood

Left of the middle draw one big circle eye. Draw a big hood round it, like a backwards C.

Tip Leave the whole right side of the paper for the body.

  2. Step 2: Cab, roof and floor

Start at the hood top. Draw up, a long roof, down the back, then the floor back to the hood.

  3. Step 3: Big wheels and road

Under each bump draw a big circle tyre with a smaller circle inside. Draw a road line touching both tyres.

  4. Step 4: Smile and brow

Start under the eye and draw a U smile, stopping inside the hood. Add a curved brow over the eye.

  5. Step 5: Bumper

Across the front bottom corner of the hood draw a long rounded bumper, like a sausage.

  6. Step 6: Windows and door

Inside the cab front draw a leaning windscreen. Then a tall door and 2 long windows with gaps between.

Tip Keep the tops of all the windows level.

  7. Step 7: Panes and door lines

In each window and the door rule a line from top down to bottom. Add a cross bar and handle.

Tip Rule the door's cross bar level with the window bottoms.

  8. Step 8: Black stripe

Under the windows rule 2 level lines a finger apart. Start at the hood and stop at the back wall.

  9. Step 9: Roof lights

Draw a small half circle light on the roof near each end. Start and stop on the roof line.

  10. Step 10: STOP sign

From the hood's back edge near the top, rule a short stub. Draw an 8-sided STOP sign on its end.

  11. Step 11: Yellow bus

Colour the bus yellow, but not the windows, stripe, bumper or sign. Leave the eye white.

  12. Step 12: Blue windows, red lights

Colour the windows sky blue. Colour the roof lights and the STOP sign red.

  13. Step 13: Grey metal, black tyres

Colour the rims and bumper grey. Colour the stripe black, and the tyres black around the rims.
