How to Draw a Paver
Draw a paver in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the engine deck.
Step 1: The engine deck
In the middle, draw a long low box with soft corners, more than twice as long as tall.
Tip A paver is a long low machine that lays new black road.
Step 2: Big headlight eye
Near the front of the deck draw a big round headlight. Colour a round pupil in it, leaving a shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheek
Under the eye draw a short U smile curling up toward the front. Add a round cheek behind the eye.
Step 4: The hopper bin
In front of the deck draw a bin with a slanted front, lower than the deck. Add a lip line.
Step 5: Asphalt heap
Start on the bin's front rim. Draw a bumpy heap over the bin, stopping at the deck.
Tip The bin carries hot asphalt, the black stuff roads are made of.
Step 6: Crawler track
Under the deck draw a long pill shape with round ends, as long as the deck.
Step 7: Track wheels
Inside the track draw 4 wheels in a row. Add a small hub in the middle of each.
Step 8: Driver's seat
Start on the deck top, draw an L-shaped seat, stop on the deck. Add a steering wheel on a post.
Step 9: Roof on posts
High above the seat draw a long flat roof. From under its ends draw 2 posts down to the deck.
Step 10: The flat plate
Behind the track draw a wide flat plate lying low. Join it to the deck with a slanted bar.
Tip The plate drags behind and presses the asphalt flat.
Step 11: Asphalt and road
Under the plate draw a thick asphalt strip to the right edge. Draw a road line from the left.
Step 12: Yellow machine
Go over your lines. Colour the deck, bin, seat and roof yellow and the cheek pink. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Grey track and plate
Colour the track dark grey and its wheels light grey. Colour the plate, its bar and the steering wheel grey.
Step 14: Black asphalt
Colour the heap in the bin and the strip behind the plate black. Your paver is done!
