How to Draw a Houseplant
Draw a houseplant in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pot.
Step 1: The pot
Draw a flat box rim. Start under it on the left, draw the pot down, and stop under the right.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
On the pot draw 2 big egg eyes, one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 3: A big smile
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from under the left eye to under the right eye.
Step 4: Rosy cheeks
Beside each end of the smile, leaving a small gap, draw a small sideways oval cheek.
Step 5: The middle leaf
Start on the rim in the middle. Draw a tall pointed leaf up and back down to the rim.
Tip The leaf is like a long pointed egg standing on its end.
Step 6: 2 more leaves
Start on the rim again. Draw the same leaf leaning up left, and another leaning up right.
Step 7: The outside leaves
Start on the rim once more. Draw a shorter leaf leaning out left and one leaning out right.
Step 8: Leaf veins
Start a little above the rim. Draw a line up the middle of each leaf, and stop before the tip.
Step 9: The table
Draw a long straight line along the bottom of the pot, from far left to far right.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, ginger pot
Colour the cheeks pink, then the pot and rim ginger brown, going around the eyes, smile and cheeks.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
Step 11: Green leaves
Colour all 5 leaves green. Go over your lines and your houseplant is done!
