How to Draw a Ginkgo Leaf

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a ginkgo leaf in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the right half.

Print

  1. Step 1: The right half

Start at a spot below the middle. Draw a line up right, then a wavy line over to a notch.

  2. Step 2: The left half

Start in the notch. Draw a wavy line over to the left corner, then curve down to the spot.

  3. Step 3: A long stem

From the spot, draw a long stem down to the left, getting thinner, then back up to the spot.

  4. Step 4: Stem knob

On the thin end of the stem draw a tiny round knob, like a little bead.

  5. Step 5: The middle vein

Start near the spot. Draw a thin straight vein up the middle towards the notch, stopping a finger short.

  6. Step 6: Side veins

From near the spot, draw a vein along each side of the leaf, stopping a finger short of the edge.

  7. Step 7: Right veins

Between the middle vein and the right side vein, draw 2 more veins from near the spot, evenly spread.

  8. Step 8: Left veins

Between the middle vein and the left side vein, draw 2 more veins from near the spot, evenly spread.

  9. Step 9: Yellow leaf

Colour the big fan leaf golden yellow, right to the wavy edge.

  10. Step 10: Brown stem

Colour the stem and its knob brown. Go over your lines and you're done!
