How to Draw Hot Chocolate

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw hot chocolate in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.

Print

  1. Step 1: The rim

Above the middle of your paper draw a wide flat oval. Add a smaller one inside.

Tip Two flat ovals, one inside the other, like a thick ring.

  2. Step 2: Mug body

From each end of the oval draw a line down. From the left line's bottom draw a smile across.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the front of the mug draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.

  4. Step 4: The handle

On the right, start under the rim. Draw a fat C out and back. Add a C inside.

  5. Step 5: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye. Add a small oval cheek beside each end.

  6. Step 6: Three marshmallows

Inside the rim draw 3 soft rounded squares floating side by side, the middle one biggest.

Tip Marshmallows are squishy squares: round every corner and leave a gap between them.

  7. Step 7: Two stripes

Near the bottom, start on the left side. Draw a smile across to the right side. Add another under it.

  8. Step 8: Hot steam

A little above the rim, draw 3 wiggly steam lines rising up, the middle one tallest.

  9. Step 9: Table and shadow

Under the mug draw a flat oval shadow. Draw a table line from well left to well right, behind it.

Tip Stop the oval where it goes behind the mug.

  10. Step 10: Pink cheeks, grey shadow

Colour the cheeks pink and the shadow grey.

  11. Step 11: Blue mug, white stripe

Colour the mug blue, going around the pink cheeks and leaving the rim, stripe and eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Brown cocoa, white marshmallows

Colour the cocoa brown around the marshmallows. Go over your lines, and your hot chocolate is ready to sip!
