How to Draw a Crappie
Draw a crappie in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: fat egg body.
Step 1: Fat egg body
From left to right draw a big rainbow for the back and a smile for the belly, both ends open.
Tip Leave room above and below for 2 tall fins.
Step 2: Eye and kissy lips
At the front draw a huge round eye with a dot. Close the front with kissy lips like a 3.
Step 3: Bow-tie tail
From the back's end draw 2 fat lobes to the belly. Add a line where it joins, and 2 rays.
Step 4: Tall top fin
Start halfway along the back. Draw 3 round bumps climbing up, then a big fan down to the back.
Tip The fan is the tallest part. Stop on the back just before the tail.
Step 5: Matching bottom fin
Start under the top fin, on the belly. Draw the very same fin upside down. Stop near the tail.
Tip Top and bottom fins that match are how you spot a crappie.
Step 6: Gill and side fin
Behind the eye, draw a C from back to belly. Behind it draw a leaf fin with 2 rays.
Step 7: Belly line
Start at the lips. Draw a line under the eye and side fin. Stop on the belly near the tail.
Step 8: Dark speckles
Behind the gill, above the belly line, draw 6 round spots, some big and some small. Colour them black.
Tip Scatter them. Keep every spot inside the body.
Step 9: Spotty fins
Draw 3 small black spots in a row inside the top fan. Do the same inside the bottom fan.
Step 10: Bubbles, sand and seaweed
Draw 3 bubbles by the lips. Draw a wavy sand line from edge to edge, with 3 seaweed blades.
Step 11: Blue bubbles, sandy floor
Colour the bubbles light blue. Colour the floor under the sand line sandy, out to the edges.
Step 12: Cream belly, green fins
Colour the belly under the belly line cream. Colour the tail, 3 fins and seaweed green, around the spots.
Step 13: Silver body
Colour the body and lips silver grey, around the side fin, the spots and the belly. Leave the eye white.
