How to Draw a Hole in the Wall

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a hole in the wall in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the wall.

Print

  1. Step 1: The wall

Draw a big box that fills most of your paper, a little wider than it is tall.

Tip Use a ruler if you like. Walls have straight edges.

  2. Step 2: The top cap

Along the top of the wall draw a thin flat bar poking out a little on both sides.

  3. Step 3: The hole

In the middle of the wall draw a big jagged hole: zigzag round in a ring, about 10 points.

Tip Make the points different sizes. A smashed hole is never neat.

  4. Step 4: Thick wall edge

Inside the hole draw the same jagged shape again, a bit smaller. The gap shows how thick the wall is.

  5. Step 5: Brick rows

Draw 5 lines straight across the wall, evenly spaced. Stop each line when it reaches the hole.

Tip The lines start again on the other side of the hole.

  6. Step 6: Top bricks

In the top 3 rows draw short up-and-down brick lines. Each row sits half a brick along from the last.

Tip Skip any brick line that would land inside the hole.

  7. Step 7: Bottom bricks

Do the same in the bottom 2 rows. Stop any line that reaches the hole.

  8. Step 8: Cracks

Start at 3 points of the hole. Draw a short zigzag crack out from each and stop in a brick.

Tip Keep the cracks short, about as long as half a brick.

  9. Step 9: The ground

Draw a ground line along the bottom of the wall, from left to right.

  10. Step 10: Grey cap

Colour the cap along the top grey.

  11. Step 11: Red bricks

Colour all the bricks red, around the hole.

Tip Press lightly so the brick lines still show.

  12. Step 12: Brown edge

Colour the jagged ring round the hole brown. That is the broken edge of the wall.

  13. Step 13: Dark hole

Colour the middle of the hole black. Go over your lines. Your hole in the wall is done!
