How to Draw a Hill
Draw a hill in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big hill.
Step 1: The big hill
Start low on the left. Draw a long soft bump up and down. Stop level with the start.
Tip A hill has a soft round top, not a point.
Step 2: A hill behind
Start on the big hill's right slope. Draw a lower round hill behind it, sloping down to the ground.
Step 3: The ground
Start left of the big hill. Draw a straight ground line under both hills, stopping past the hill behind.
Step 4: A winding path
From the ground, draw 2 winding lines up to the hilltop, wide apart at the bottom, close at the top.
Step 5: Leafy tree top
Up on the left above the hill, draw a round cloud of 6 soft bumps for the leaves.
Tip Keep the bottom bumpy too, or your tree looks like a mushroom.
Step 6: The trunk
From under the leaves, draw 2 lines down to the hill, getting wider apart at the bottom.
Step 7: The sun
In the top right corner draw a round sun with 8 short rays round it, like wheel spokes.
Step 8: A cloud
In the top left draw a small puffy cloud: 4 bumps over the top and 2 shallow bumps underneath.
Step 9: Yellow sun, tan path
Go over your lines. Colour the sun yellow and the winding path tan.
Step 10: Leaf green hill
Colour the big hill leaf green, around the path.
Step 11: Brown trunk
Colour the tree trunk wood brown.
Step 12: Green hill and leaves
Colour the hill behind and the leaves dark green, and your hill is done!
