How to Draw a Bog
Draw a bog in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bog.
Step 1: The bog
In the middle of your paper draw a big wobbly pool with soft bumpy edges, wider than it is tall.
Tip Like a big puddle with rounded edges.
Step 2: A floating log
On the right of the pool draw a floating log: a fat sausage lying almost flat, rounded at both ends.
Step 3: Bark lines
On the log draw 2 short curved bark lines near the ends, and a small oval on the right end.
Step 4: Reeds
From the pool's left edge, draw 2 tall reeds with cattails and a pointed leaf, stopping at different heights.
Tip A cattail is a fat sausage on top of the reed.
Step 5: Reeds on the right
Start on the pool's right edge. Draw 2 more reeds straight up, one stopping higher, each with a cattail.
Step 6: Rocks
Draw a round rock on the bog's edge at the bottom right, and a smaller one on the left edge.
Step 7: Grass
On the pool's top edge draw 2 grass tufts of 3 short blades, the middle one tallest.
Step 8: A frog
On the left draw a frog peeping out: a flat oval head, 2 big eyes on top, and a smile.
Step 9: Bubbles
On the water between the frog and the log draw 3 little round bubbles, one above the other.
Step 10: Green frog, grey rocks
Colour the frog and the long leaf green, and the rocks grey. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Murky green water
Colour the water murky green, going round the log, the frog and the rocks.
Step 12: Brown log and cattails
Colour the log and all 4 cattails brown. Go over your lines and your bog is done!
