How to Draw a Comet
Draw a comet in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round ball.
Step 1: Round ball
Low on the right, draw a big round ball. Leave the whole top-left corner empty for the tail.
Tip The ball is about a third of the page wide.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Halfway down the ball, draw 2 big round eyes side by side, an eye apart.
Step 3: Pupils and shine
Colour a big black dot in each eye, leaving a small white speck near the top-left for the shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw 1 wide U smile from eye to eye. Add a small oval cheek outside each eye.
Step 5: Big flame tail
From the ball's top, draw a big flame with 3 points streaming to the top-left, back to the ball's bottom.
Tip The middle point is the longest, nearly reaching the corner.
Step 6: Inner flame
Inside the big flame, draw a smaller flame with 3 points the same way, starting and ending on the ball.
Step 7: Little flame on top
Start on the tail's top edge by the ball, draw a little flame lick, and stop back on the edge.
Step 8: Little flame below
Start on the tail's bottom edge by the ball, draw another little flame lick, and stop back on the edge.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 3 little 4-point sparkle stars in the empty sky around the comet, not touching it.
Step 10: Yellow comet
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the ball, inner flame and sparkles yellow around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Orange flames
Colour the big flame and the 2 little flames orange, around the yellow. Go over your lines.
