How to Draw a Forest
Draw a forest in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big tree trunk.
Step 1: Big tree trunk
Draw a ground line near the bottom. From its middle draw 2 trunk lines up, stopping a hand higher.
Step 2: Big leafy top
Start on top of the left trunk line. Draw a big lumpy cloud of leaves, ending on the right one.
Tip Make the leafy top big and bumpy, like a cloud.
Step 3: A smaller tree
On the left draw a smaller tree the same way: trunk lines from the ground up to a lumpy top.
Step 4: A tall pine tree
On the right draw a tall pointy pine triangle. Add a stubby trunk from it down to the ground.
Step 5: Two little pines
Draw 2 little pines the same way: far right, and between the round trees. Trunks from triangle down to ground.
Step 6: Bush and mushroom
Right of the big trunk draw a low bush. Left of it draw a little mushroom: stem and round cap.
Step 7: Grass
Along the ground draw 4 tufts of grass, 2 short curved blades each, starting on the ground line.
Step 8: Sun and birds
Top left, draw a round sun with 8 rays. On the right draw 2 flying birds, like flat M shapes.
Step 9: Yellow sun, leafy pines
Colour the sun yellow. Colour the 3 pine trees and the bush leaf green.
Step 10: Red cap, brown trunks
Colour the mushroom cap red and all the trunks wood brown.
Step 11: Green tops
Colour the 2 round tree tops green. Go over your lines and your forest is done!
