How to Draw a Hiking Boot
Draw a hiking boot in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: thick sole.
Step 1: Thick sole
Draw a long thick sole, toe tipping up. Draw a stripe along it from the toe, stopping at the heel.
Step 2: Round toe cap
Start at the toe tip. Draw a toe cap like half a ball, stopping back on the sole.
Step 3: Tall ankle
Start on the toe cap. Slope up to a tall ankle top, then down the heel, stopping on the sole.
Tip Make the ankle about half as tall as the boot is long.
Step 4: Lace panel and rings
From the top near the front, draw a long J down to the front edge. Add 4 pairs of rings.
Step 5: Collar and pull loop
Start on the lace panel. Draw a band under the top, stopping at the heel. Add a pull loop there.
Step 6: Criss-cross laces
Lace the rings with 3 X's going up. Join the top 2 rings to a point above them.
Step 7: Small bow
Where the laces meet, draw a small round knot. Add a fat loop out each side.
Step 8: Grippy blocks
Under the sole, draw 5 chunky blocks with round bottom corners. Draw a ground line under them.
Step 9: Heel patch
Start on the sole under the ankle. Draw a curve up the heel, stopping on the back edge.
Step 10: Tan trim
Go over your lines. Colour the toe cap, lace panel and collar band tan. Leave the bow white.
Step 11: Red bow, brown leather
Colour the bow red, then the rest of the boot and the pull loop brown, around the tan parts.
Step 12: Slate sole
Colour the bottom of the sole and the blocks slate. Leave the top of the sole white.
