How to Draw a Hawaiian Flag
Draw a hawaiian flag in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the flag pole.
Step 1: The flag pole
On the left draw a tall thin pole from near the bottom to near the top. Add a ball.
Step 2: The waving flag
Start on the pole below the ball. Wave the top edge out to the right, come down, and wave back.
Tip Keep the right edge straight up and down.
Step 3: The corner box
Start on the top edge, just before the middle. Draw straight down to halfway, then wave back to the pole.
Tip The box is half as tall as the flag.
Step 4: The wide cross
Draw a wide cross through the middle of the corner box, from top to bottom and side to side.
Tip Draw 4 corner lines, one in each corner, and leave the middle open.
Step 5: Slanted bands
From each corner of the box draw 2 lines towards the middle, stopping at the cross.
Tip Aim every band at the middle of the cross.
Step 6: Short stripe lines
From the right side of the box draw 4 wavy lines across to the right edge of the flag.
Tip The last line starts at the bottom corner of the box. Keep the gaps even.
Step 7: Long stripe lines
Below the box draw 3 long wavy lines from the pole to the right edge of the flag.
Tip Count them: the flag now has 8 stripes down its right side.
Step 8: Ground line
Draw a long flat ground line under the pole, from the left side to the right side.
Step 9: Yellow ball, grey pole
Colour the ball on top of the pole yellow and the pole grey.
Step 10: Red cross
Colour the wide cross in the corner box red. Leave the slanted bands white.
Step 11: Red stripes
Count the stripes from the top. Colour the second, the fifth and the bottom stripe red.
Tip The top stripe stays white.
Step 12: Blue corner
In the corner box, colour the 8 little triangles blue.
Tip Each corner of the box has 2 triangles, one each side of the white band.
Step 13: Blue stripes
Colour the stripe under each red stripe blue, but not the bottom one. Leave the other stripes white.
Tip From the top the stripes go white, red, blue, white, red, blue, white, red.
