How to Draw a Hammer
Draw a hammer in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: hammer head.
Step 1: Hammer head
Near the top, draw a long flat head lying sideways. Bend the right end down into a claw.
Tip The flat left end hits the nail.
Step 2: Happy face
On the left half of the head, draw 2 big round eyes with black dots. Add a wide U smile.
Step 3: The handle
Start under the head. Draw 2 long lines down, a thumb apart, and stop a hand above the bottom.
Step 4: The grip
Start at the bottom of the left line. Draw a fat grip down and round, back up to the right.
Step 5: Grip ridges
Draw 2 straight lines across the grip, each one from side to side.
Step 6: Rosy cheeks
Draw a small oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 7: Ground line
Draw a straight ground line right under the grip, from one side of the paper to the other.
Step 8: A nail
Right of the grip, draw a nail lying on the ground, with a small square head and a pointy end.
Step 9: Cheeks and nail
Colour the 2 cheeks peach and the nail light grey.
Step 10: Wood and red
Colour the handle wood brown and the grip red.
Step 11: Grey head
Colour the head dark grey around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Your hammer is done!
