How to Draw a Clue Card
Draw a clue card in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the card.
Step 1: The card
A little left of the middle, draw a tall card with sharp corners, standing up straight.
Tip Leave room at the bottom right for a magnifying glass.
Step 2: The lens
Over the bottom right corner draw a big circle, half on the card. Add a second circle inside: the rim.
Tip Rub out the card lines inside the circle.
Step 3: A happy face
In the glass draw 2 round eyes with black dots. Add a small smile and tiny cheeks at each end.
Step 4: A border
Inside the card draw a second, smaller rectangle a finger in from the edge.
Step 5: A big question mark
High on the card draw a big question mark: a hook curving over, a short line down, a fat dot.
Step 6: Footprints
From the bottom left, draw 3 footprints stepping up and right: a filled-in foot shape with 3 toe dots.
Step 7: The handle
From the rim's lower right, draw a fat handle down and right with a round end. Stop on the rim.
Step 8: Shine and sparkles
Draw a short curved shine in the top left of the glass. Add 4 sparkle stars round the picture.
Step 9: Cream card
Go over your lines. Colour the card cream, going round the question mark and footprints.
Step 10: Yellow sparkles, pink cheeks
Colour the 4 sparkles yellow and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 11: Sky glass, blue rim
Colour the glass sky blue, going around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes and shine white. Colour the rim blue.
Step 12: Brown handle
Colour the handle brown. Your clue card is ready to crack the case!
