How to Draw a Gyro
Draw a gyro in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.
Step 1: A plate
Near the bottom draw a long flat oval plate, then a second oval just inside it.
Step 2: The pita
On the plate draw a big soft U for the pita. Join its top corners with a dipping line.
Tip Let the top corners curl out a little, like soft bread. Rub out the plate lines inside.
Step 3: The fold
From the front edge near the right corner draw a soft curve down to the left side, for the fold.
Step 4: Back of the pita
From the top left corner draw a rounded arch up and over to the top right corner.
Step 5: Meat pieces
Poking up out of the pita draw 3 wide pieces of meat with round tops, the middle one tallest.
Step 6: Tomato slices
In front of the meat draw 2 tomato slices the same size, round tops peeking over the front edge.
Step 7: Lettuce
At each top corner draw a frilly lettuce leaf with 3 soft bumps, spilling over the edge.
Step 8: Onion slivers
Between the meat pieces draw 2 thin curved onion slivers, like little rainbows.
Step 9: Paper wrap
Round the bottom draw a paper wrap, a U a little wider than the pita, with a slanting top.
Tip Rub out the pita lines inside the paper.
Step 10: The table
Draw a line under the plate from well left to well right, just touching its bottom.
Step 11: Tan pita, cream inside
Go over your lines. Colour the pita tan and the inside cream. Leave the onion and paper white.
Step 12: Sky plate
Colour the plate sky blue, around the pita and the paper wrap.
Step 13: Green lettuce, red tomato
Colour the lettuce green and the tomato slices red.
Step 14: Brown meat
Colour the meat pieces brown, and your gyro is done!
