How to Draw a Guppy

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a guppy in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: eye and kissy lips.

Print

  1. Step 1: Eye and kissy lips

Left of the middle, draw one big round eye with a shine. Add 2 small bumps in front for lips.

Tip A guppy is tiny with a huge tail. Leave the right half empty.

  2. Step 2: Small slim body

Start at the lips. Draw a low curve over the eye and stop past the middle. Do the tummy too.

  3. Step 3: Huge fan tail

From the back's end, draw a huge fan down to the tummy. Join them with a line. Add 3 rays.

Tip The fan tail is taller than the whole body.

  4. Step 4: Top fin

Start on the back behind the eye. Draw a small fin swept back and stop further along the back.

  5. Step 5: Gill

Behind the eye, start below the back line and draw one short C. Stop above the belly line.

  6. Step 6: Side fin

Behind the gill draw a small fan fin with a narrow round front. Inside, add 2 short rays spreading apart.

  7. Step 7: Belly fin

Start on the tummy line. Draw a small fin swept back and stop on the tummy nearer the tail.

  8. Step 8: Tail spots

On the fan tail draw 4 round spots, one in each space the rays make. Keep them inside the fan.

  9. Step 9: Bubbles

In front of the face draw 3 bubbles floating up. They get bigger as they go up.

  10. Step 10: Sand and seaweed

Draw a wavy sand line across the bottom. Grow 3 pointy seaweed blades from it, 2 left and 1 right.

  11. Step 11: Orange tail, sandy floor

Colour the fan tail and all 3 fins orange. Leave the spots empty. Colour the floor sandy.

  12. Step 12: Blue bubbles, green seaweed

Colour the bubbles light blue and the seaweed green.

  13. Step 13: Blue guppy

Colour a pink cheek under the eye. Colour the body, lips and spots blue around the cheek and fin.

Tip Leave the eye white. Go over your lines and your guppy is done!
