How to Draw a Bento Box
Draw a bento box in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the box.
Step 1: The box
In the middle draw a big box with soft corners, nearly as wide as the page.
Step 2: The rim
Inside it draw another box a finger in from the edge, for the rim.
Step 3: Dividers
Start at the rim's top. Draw a line down to the bottom edge. Add a line across the right half.
Tip Now there are 3 sections: 1 big one left, 2 on the right.
Step 4: The rice ball
In the top of the left section draw a fat triangle with soft corners, point up.
Step 5: Seaweed and sesame
Across the bottom of the rice ball draw a small seaweed box. Add 3 tiny sesame seeds near the top.
Step 6: Broccoli
Under the rice ball draw 2 broccoli, each a bumpy cloud with a short stem under it.
Step 7: Sushi rolls
In the top right section draw 2 sushi rolls: a round with a slightly smaller round inside and a dot.
Step 8: Carrot sticks
In the bottom right section draw 2 long thin sticks with soft ends, one above the other.
Step 9: Cherry tomatoes
Right of the carrots draw 2 little round tomatoes, one above the other, each with a tiny star on top.
Step 10: Pink and orange
Go over your lines. Colour the sushi middles pink and the carrot sticks orange.
Step 11: Green broccoli
Colour the broccoli heads, their stems and the little tomato tops green.
Step 12: Red and black
Colour the rim and tomatoes red, around their green tops, and the seaweed and sushi rings black. Lunch is packed!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a bento box, drawn by you.
