How to Draw a Greyhound
Draw a greyhound in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long head.
Step 1: Long head
Near the top left, draw a long head, round at the back and narrow all the way to the nose.
Tip Make the head about twice as long as it is tall.
Step 2: Eye, nose and smile
Inside the head near the back, draw one big eye. Add a black nose on the tip and a smile.
Step 3: Folded ear
At the back of the head, draw a small soft ear folded back, with a fold line inside.
Step 4: Long neck
From under the ear, draw a curve down to the back, and one from under the eye to the chest.
Tip A greyhound's neck is long and arched, like a swan's.
Step 5: Deep chest
From the neck, draw a long back and a round bottom, then a tucked-up tummy and a deep round chest.
Tip Built for speed: a deep chest and a thin, tucked-up tummy.
Step 6: Two long legs
From the chest, draw a slim leg down to a round paw. Under the bottom, draw a bent back leg.
Tip Keep the bottom of each paw flat.
Step 7: Far legs
Draw the 2 far legs peeking out: one behind the front leg, one in front of the back leg.
Step 8: Thin tail
From the top of the bottom, draw a long thin tail hanging down, with the tip hooking forward.
Step 9: The collar
Across the neck, draw 2 curved lines a finger apart, from the throat across to the back of the neck.
Step 10: The ground
Draw a long flat ground line under all 4 paws, from past the nose to past the tail.
Step 11: Grey coat
Go over your lines. Colour the head, ear, neck, body, legs and tail grey. Leave the eye and collar white.
Step 12: Red collar
Colour the collar red.
