How to Draw a Graveyard
Draw a graveyard in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the stone.
Step 1: The stone
In the middle of your paper, draw a tall slab with a round top, like a tall door.
Tip Straight sides, with a rainbow curve over the top.
Step 2: The base
Under the slab, draw a wide flat box for the base, poking out past the slab on both sides.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the stone, above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes an eye apart. Add black dots with white shines.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile from the left eye to the right. Add cheeks at each end.
Step 5: Arch and crack
Draw a rainbow a finger inside the round top. Zigzag a crack from the left edge down to the base.
Step 6: Two more stones
On the left, draw a smaller cross stone on a base. On the right, draw a pointed stone.
Step 7: A bare tree
Beside the pointed stone, draw a bare tree: a trunk splitting into 2 bendy branches, plus a little twig.
Tip Make each branch thinner at the tip. No leaves: it is a spooky old tree.
Step 8: Moon and bats
Draw a crescent moon in the top left corner and 2 little bats in the sky, with pointy wings.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line from the cross to past the tree. Add 2 grass tufts between the stones.
Step 10: Moon and cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour the moon yellow and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 11: Grey stones
Colour all 3 stones and their bases grey, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Dark tree and bats
Colour the bare tree and the 2 bats dark grey, and your friendly graveyard is done!
