How to Draw Crossbones
Draw crossbones in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the skull.
Step 1: The skull
Draw a big skull in the middle of your paper: a wide round dome with a narrower jaw below.
Tip Tuck in under the cheeks, then round a soft chin.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the dome, draw 2 big eyes one eye apart, with a big black dot and shine.
Step 3: Heart nose
Between and under the eyes draw a small upside-down heart for the nose, point up.
Step 4: The smile
Under the nose draw a wide U smile from under the left eye to under the right eye.
Step 5: Teeth
Under the smile, draw a flatter curve from end to end, making a thin banana mouth. Add 3 tooth lines.
Step 6: Dome shine
Near the top left of the dome, draw a short curved shine line, not touching the outline.
Step 7: A crack
From the top of the dome, right of the middle, draw a short zigzag crack down, stopping above the eye.
Step 8: First bone
Behind the skull, draw a long bone slanting up to the right, with round knobs at each end.
Tip Only the ends show; the middle is hidden behind the skull.
Step 9: Second bone and ground
Draw the second bone slanting up to the left, crossing behind the skull. Add a ground line under the chin.
Step 10: Sand skull and bones
Go over your lines. Colour the skull and bones sand, leaving the eyes, nose and teeth white.
Step 11: Grey nose
Colour the heart nose grey, and your skull and crossbones is ready for a pirate flag!
