How to Draw a Grandfather Clock
Draw a grandfather clock in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: hood and pointed top.
Step 1: Hood and pointed top
Near the top draw a box for the hood. Add a pointed roof on top from corner to corner.
Tip Leave most of the paper below: this clock is as tall as a grown-up!
Step 2: The round dial
In the hood draw a big circle for the dial and a second circle just inside it.
Step 3: 2 big eyes
In the middle of the dial draw 2 egg eyes, one eye apart. Add big black dots.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a small U smile. Add an oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: Clock hands
Above the eyes draw a dot. From it draw a short hand straight up and a long one up-right.
Step 6: The tall case
Under the hood draw a tall narrow box, a little narrower than the hood, almost to the bottom.
Step 7: The glass door
Inside the case draw a tall box, leaving a thick wooden edge all round.
Step 8: The pendulum
Under the top of the door draw a dot. From it draw a rod straight down to a round disc.
Step 9: Base and feet
Under the case draw a wide flat box, a little wider than the hood. Add tiny feet at each end.
Step 10: Sparkles and floor
Add 3 sparkles in the air. Draw a floor line under the feet, from far left to far right.
Step 11: Cream dial, blue glass
Colour the dial cream and the glass door light blue, leaving the eyes white.
Step 12: Gold pendulum, pink cheeks
Colour the pendulum disc and the sparkles yellow like gold, and the cheeks pink. Tick... tock!
Step 13: Wood case
Colour the hood and case light brown around the dial and glass. Colour the roof, base and feet dark brown.
