How to Draw a Cotton Ball

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a cotton ball in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: top puffs.

Print

  1. Step 1: Top puffs

Start on the left. Draw a rainbow of 7 round puffs up and over, stopping level on the right.

Tip Make some puffs a little wider than others, so it looks fluffy.

  2. Step 2: Bottom puffs

Start where the puffs stopped. Draw 8 more puffs down and round, back to the start, to make a ball.

Tip Keep it as tall as it is wide: a ball, not a cloud.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

In the middle draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a white shine.

  4. Step 4: Big smile

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile, from under one eye to under the other.

  5. Step 5: Two cheeks

Beside each end of the smile draw a small flat oval cheek.

  6. Step 6: Top fluff curls

Start in a dip near the top on each side. Draw a short curved line into the ball.

Tip Stop well before the face.

  7. Step 7: Side fluff curls

Start in a dip halfway down each side. Draw a short curved line into the ball.

  8. Step 8: Soft shadow

Under the ball draw a long flat oval shadow. It hides behind the bottom puffs.

  9. Step 9: Pink cheeks

Go over your lines. Colour the 2 cheeks pink. Leave the ball and the eyes white.

Tip Cotton is bright white, so the paper does the work.

  10. Step 10: Grey shadow

Colour the shadow grey. Your cotton ball is done!
