How to Draw a Graduation Cap
Draw a graduation cap in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: flat board.
Step 1: Flat board
A third of the way down your paper draw a big flat diamond, much wider than tall.
Step 2: The cap
Start on the board's lower left edge. Draw a short, wide U with a flat bottom, stopping on the right.
Tip Keep the cap short and wide like a band, not tall like a head.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the cap draw 2 big round eyes, a finger apart, with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile. Add an oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: Thick board
Start at the left corner. Draw a short line down, slope under the bottom corner, back up to the right.
Step 6: Button and tassel
Draw a button on the board's middle. From it draw a thin cord over the edge, down beside the cap.
Step 7: Tassel tuft
On the end of the cord draw a little fat tassel hanging down, like a tiny bell.
Step 8: Sparkles and ground
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the cap, and a ground line under it from left to right.
Step 9: Gold tassel, pink cheeks
Colour the button, cord and tassel yellow like gold, and the cheeks pink.
Step 10: Yellow sparkles
Colour the sparkles yellow.
Step 11: Grey cap, black edge
Colour the board and cap dark grey around the face, and the thick edge black. Leave the eyes white.
