How to Draw a Kaleidoscope
Draw a kaleidoscope in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big end.
Step 1: The big end
On the left of your paper, a little low, draw one big circle as big as your fist.
Step 2: The tube
From the circle's top and bottom draw 2 long lines to the right, a little closer at the end.
Step 3: The eyepiece
From the top line's end draw a backwards C down to the bottom line, and another just before it.
Step 4: The rim
Inside the big circle draw another circle a finger in from the edge, for the rim.
Step 5: Six slices
From the middle of the inner circle draw 6 straight lines out to the rim, like cutting a pizza.
Step 6: Six petals
In each slice draw a teardrop petal, point near the middle and round end halfway out, like a flower.
Step 7: Six dots
Near the rim, in each slice past the petal, draw a small dot, so 6 dots go round the edge.
Step 8: Stripes on the tube
Draw 3 backwards C curves across the tube, from the top line to the bottom line, spaced out along it.
Step 9: Sparkles and ground
Draw 2 sparkle stars above the tube. Draw a long ground line under the kaleidoscope.
Step 10: Yellow dots and sparkles
Colour the 6 dots, the sparkles and the eyepiece band yellow.
Step 11: Inside the circle
Colour inside the rim sky blue, around the dots and petals. Colour the petals red.
Step 12: Purple tube
Colour the tube and the outer ring purple, around the yellow band. Your kaleidoscope is ready to peek into!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a kaleidoscope, drawn by you.
