How to Draw a Race Car
Draw a race car in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big helmet dome.
Step 1: Big helmet dome
Left of the middle, just under halfway down, start and draw one big rainbow, stopping level with where you began.
Tip A third of the page wide, round like a ball. Leave the bottom open.
Step 2: Visor and face
From the helmet's left edge, draw 2 curves across to the right edge for the visor. Add a face.
Tip Add 2 big eyes and a smile inside the visor. Eyes do not touch.
Step 3: Long low body
From the left cheek, draw a ramp down to the nose. Go along the floor, over 2 arches, back up.
Tip End back at the helmet. The arches are for the tyres.
Step 4: Two huge tyres
Under each arch, draw one huge tyre, a little smaller than the arch. Add a round hub and a dot.
Tip The back tyre is a bit bigger. Tyres hang inside the arches, not touching.
Step 5: Rear wing
Start on the back slope. Draw a leaning fin up, then a long plank on top with an end tab.
Tip The fin grows out of the body and disappears into the plank.
Step 6: Low front wing
Under the nose, draw one thin flat plank on the floor line, from the nose tip to the front tyre.
Tip The plank sits flat against the bottom of the nose, not floating.
Step 7: Number and light
On the side near the nose, draw a circle with a big fat 1 inside. Add a small oval headlight.
Tip The circle is a bit bigger than a hub.
Step 8: Exhaust and flame
On the tail, above the back tyre, draw a short pipe. Add a teardrop flame trailing back.
Tip The flame's round end hides in the pipe, then it points.
Step 9: Road and speed lines
Start in front of the front wing. Draw a long road line under both tyres, stopping behind the flame.
Tip Add 3 short speed dashes behind the car, all the same length.
Step 10: Red car, yellow flame
Colour the body, wings, fin and pipe red, leaving the number and light white. Colour the flame yellow.
Step 11: Blue helmet
Colour the helmet blue, leaving the visor and eyes white.
Step 12: Grey hubs, black tyres
Go over your lines. Colour the hubs grey. Colour the tyres black around them, and the dots black.
