How to Draw a Cable Car
Draw a cable car in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: cabin box.
Step 1: Cabin box
In the middle of your paper draw a box a little wider than tall, with soft top corners.
Tip Leave room above for the cable and below for mountains.
Step 2: Brim roof
Start on the top right corner. Draw a shallow rainbow over the box, back to the top left.
Step 3: Round face
On the right half of the box draw a big circle, leaving a little space all around it.
Step 4: Eyes and smile
In the circle draw 2 big eyes. Start under the left eye, draw a U smile, stop under the right.
Step 5: Two windows
Left of the face, draw 2 tall windows with round corners, one fat and one thin.
Tip Leave a little gap between the windows, and between the windows and the face.
Step 6: Arm and grip
Start on the middle of the roof. Draw a tall arm up, stop at a little box. Add a wheel.
Step 7: The cable
Rule one long cable right across the paper, sloping gently up to the right, through the little wheel.
Step 8: Mountains below
Low down, start at the left edge. Draw 3 pointy peaks in a row and stop at the right edge.
Step 9: Snow caps
A little down from each peak, start on the left slope and draw a short zigzag across to the right.
Step 10: Sky windows, pink cheeks
Colour the 2 windows sky blue. Add 2 pink cheeks. Leave the face and eyes white.
Step 11: Yellow roof, red cabin
Go over your lines. Colour the roof and grip yellow, then the box red around the windows and face.
Step 12: Grey mountains
Colour the arm and wheel grey. Colour the mountains grey below the zigzags, leaving the snow caps white.

Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a cable car, drawn by you.
