How to Draw a Hoof Print
Draw a hoof print in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big u.
Step 1: The big U
Start low on the left, draw a big round upside-down U over the top, and stop low on the right.
Tip Keep it round like a horse's hoof, a little taller than it is wide.
Step 2: The heel
Start at the left end, draw a gentle curve along the bottom, and stop at the right end.
Step 3: The horseshoe
Start on the heel near the left, draw an upside-down U a finger inside the edge, stop near the right.
Tip The band between the 2 lines is where the horseshoe pressed into the mud.
Step 4: Nail dots
Dot 6 nail holes in the horseshoe band, 3 down each side, and none at the very top.
Step 5: A pointy V
Start on the heel just left of the middle, draw an upside-down V, and stop just right of the middle.
Step 6: A pebble
Near the top right, well away from the print, draw a small oval pebble.
Step 7: Grass tufts
Near the bottom left and right, draw a grass tuft: 3 short blades growing up from one spot, leaning apart.
Step 8: Tan mud
Colour the whole page tan for the mud, going around the hoof print and the pebble.
Step 9: Grey pebble
Colour the pebble grey.
Step 10: Light brown middle
Colour inside the horseshoe light brown, going around the pointy V.
Step 11: Brown horseshoe
Colour the horseshoe band and the pointy V brown. Go over your lines, and your hoof print is done!
