How to Draw a Black Cat
Draw a black cat in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top, draw a big egg on its side. Give each cheek 2 tiny fur points.
Tip The head is more than half of the whole cat.
Step 2: Pointy ears
Draw 2 tall pointy ears, each starting and stopping on the head. Add a small triangle inside each ear.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Below the middle, draw 2 big oval eyes, one eye apart. Add a tall thin black slit in each.
Tip Cat eyes have slits, like a door open a crack.
Step 4: Nose and W smile
Under the eyes, draw a small upside-down triangle nose. From its point, draw a W smile under each eye.
Step 5: Round body
Start under each cheek. Draw a big C down to meet at the bottom. Add a U chest.
Tip The body is a fat pear, never wider than the head.
Step 6: Front legs
Start on the chest. Draw a U leg with a fat mitten paw, back to the chest. Do 2.
Step 7: Long curly tail
Start on the right of the body. Draw a thick tail down to the ground and curl it up.
Step 8: Back paws
Under each side of the body, draw a plump bun for the back paw. Add 2 toe lines.
Step 9: Whiskers and chest spot
Start 3 whiskers on each cheek and fan them out. Draw a small oval spot high on the chest.
Step 10: The ground
Draw a flat ground line under the paws, from just past the left paw to under the tail.
Step 11: Yellow eyes, pink nose
Colour the eyes yellow, and the nose and ear insides pink. Leave the chest spot white.
Step 12: Black fur
Colour all the fur black around the eyes, nose, ear insides and white spot. Press softly so your lines show.
