How to Draw a Goldfish in a Bag

Draw a goldfish in a bag in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the fish.

Step 1: The fish
In the lower middle of your paper draw a fat egg lying on its side, narrower at the left end.
Tip Leave room on the left for the tail, and lots of room all round for the bag.
Step 2: Eye and smile
Near the right end draw a big eye with a black dot and a shine. Add a smile under it.
Step 3: Fan tail
On the narrow end draw a tail like a bow: 2 round lobes with a dent between them.
Step 4: Two fins
On the back draw a fin like a sail leaning back. Under the belly draw a smaller fin.
Step 5: Gill and side fin
Behind the eye draw a C from the back down, stopping above the belly. Add a leaf fin behind it.
Step 6: The bag
Draw a big bag around the fish, like a fat pear: narrow at the top, round at the bottom.
Tip Leave room above it for the knot and the string.
Step 7: The knot
On the narrow top draw a small oval knot. Above it draw a little fan with a wavy top.
Tip Rub out the tip of the bag inside the knot.
Step 8: String and ring
Start at the middle of the fan and draw a string straight up. Stop at a small ring.
Step 9: The water line
Start on the left side of the bag, above the fish. Draw a wavy line across to the right side.
Step 10: Bubbles and shine
Draw 2 bubbles above the fish's nose. Low on the right draw a thin banana for the shine.
Step 11: Blue water
Colour the water light blue around the fish. Leave the bubbles, the shine and the top of the bag white.
Step 12: Orange fish
Colour the fish's body orange around the eye and the side fin. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Fins and knot
Colour the tail and the 3 fins a deeper orange, and the knot red. Go over your lines!
